Free green event certification
From large-scale conferences with 22,800 participants to gala events – certification is a clear statement of commitment to organising an event in a financially, environmentally and socially responsible way. We are here to advise and support you while you plan your event, and even provide free green meeting or green event certification in compliance with the Austrian Ecolabel.
Green meetings at the Austria Center Vienna
There are mandatory criteria to be met in 9 different areas, as well as numerous optional points to help you achieve certification. Depending on the event, you need to accumulate between 32 and 55 points to achieve certification. You will automatically be awarded 27 points in the ‘venue’ category simply by hosting your event at the Austria Center Vienna.
Save on train tickets : Travelling sustainably
The ÖBB Congress Account from Austrian National Railways gives participants yet another reason to travel by rail. Visitors manage their own travel to and from the event directly in the account which also gives them access to an exclusive congress discount on ÖBB ticket prices.

- Low-carbon options for reaching social events thanks to Vienna’s extensive public transport network
- Vienna offers a wide range of eco-certified hotels
- Communication of the event’s environmental standards to all partner hotels
- Automatic award of around half of all the points needed for qualification!
- CSR measures in place at the Austria Center Vienna
- Contractually obliging all exhibitors and stand assembly partners to adhere to environmental requirements and providing them with information about their obligations
- Use of disposable cutlery, crockery and recyclable materials
- Adaptation of waste management concept to your event or meeting’s particular requirements
- Information on waste prevention measures for employees and participants
- Not using disposable crockery, cans or coffee capsules, or disposable packaging for giveaways
- Keeping printed materials to an absolute minimum
- Only using eco-certified paper when printed materials are necessary

- Publicise your green meeting measures and sustainability standards
- Name a contact person for green issues so that participants can share their feedback on your green measures
