Accessibility statement
Accessibility statement
Internationales Amtssitz- und Konferenzzentrum Wien, Aktiengesellschaft (IAKW-AG) endeavours to make its website www.acv.at accessible in compliance with the Austrian Web-Zugänglichkeits-Gesetz (Web Accessibility Act), Federal Gazette I No. 59/2019, as amended. IAKW-AG follows version 2.2 of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.2) of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).
This accessibility statement applies to the website www.acv.at
Status of compliance with requirements
IAKW-AG complies with WCAG 2.2 to the fullest extent possible. However, due to the non-conformances and exemptions listed below, the website www.acv.at is only partially compliant with WCAG 2.2 Level AA and the applicable European Standard EN 301 549 V3.2.1 (2021-03), as per Directive (EU) 2016/2102 of the European Parliament and European Council.
IAKW-AG is aware that further improvements are needed to enhance the accessibility of the existing webpages and content available at www.acv.at. We are actively working to ensure that the webpages and content at www.acv.at are (as far as possible) fully accessible without restrictions. In the future, the new content that we create for our webpages will be designed in such a way that it is usable by all people.
Non-accessible content
The content listed below is not accessible due to the following reasons:
a. Non-compliance with accessibility requirements
Hotel map
“Hotels within walking distance” graphic
The “Hotels within walking distance” graphic conveys text information as an image, cannot be adjusted by users and lacks machine-readable text alternatives (SC 1.1.1 Non-Text Content, SC 1.4.5 Images of Text).
We are working to provide an equivalent text alternative.
PDF and Office documents
PDF and Office documents are used on, or can be downloaded from, this website. Many of these documents – mainly older files – are not currently available in an accessible format. We aim to produce newly created PDF documents in an accessible format, and are committed to making such documents accessible before publishing them. At present, the complete redesign of older, non-accessible documents is not planned.
Technical integration of these documents is ensured using the external digital asset management (DAM) solution provided by Canto, Inc. We have no influence over the steps taken by Canto to ensure accessibility. However, according to information from the company itself, Canto’s solutions are optimised primarily for the latest browser versions. Use of older browsers (older than the two most recent major versions) can result in additional restrictions on accessibility (see Canto’s Application Accessibility Statement). At this time, however, switching to a different DAM tool for the website would impose a disproportionate burden in the meaning of the accessibility regulations, which is why we have not done so.
If you have any problems with particular documents, require an accessible alternative or need help with content that is not accessible for you, please contact us directly at [email protected]. We will do our best to provide the required information in a suitable and accessible format.
b. Disproportionate burden
Interactive level map
In addition to level pages and room pages, an SVG-based interactive level map is available but it is not accessible. Issues include missing text alternatives and purpose-describing labels for interactive elements (SC 1.1.1 Non-Text Content, SC 3.3.2 Labels or Instructions, SC 2.4.4 Link Purpose, SC 2.5.3 Label in Name), non-compliance with the requirements for contrast (SC 1.4.3 Contrast Minimum, SC 1.4.1 Use of Color, SC 1.4.11 Non-Text Contrast) and keyboard operability (SC 2.1.1 Keyboard).
Because all of the relevant information from the interactive level map is available in an accessible format on the corresponding level page or room page, we will not make the interactive level map accessible due to financial reasons, as we believe this would constitute a disproportionate burden and does not result in a material information disadvantage compared to the accessible information provided.
360-degree tour
The website includes an embedded third-party 360-degree tour that is not accessible and fails to meet any of the applicable criteria.
As all relevant information available in the 360-degree tour – apart from its visual impression – is provided elsewhere in an accessible format on the corresponding pages for the level or room in question, we will not make the supplementary 360-degree tour accessible due to financial reasons. We believe this would constitute a disproportionate burden and does not result in a material information disadvantage compared to the accessible information provided.
Videos
Videos in general
In addition to the points under section a), the following applies:
Not all audio and video content on the website is fully accessible.
In particular, not all videos have media alternatives such as captions (SC 1.2.2 Captions), text alternatives (SC 1.1.1 Non-Text Content) or comprehensive audio descriptions (SC 1.2.3 Audio Description or Media Alternative [Prerecorded]). Videos used on the website may trigger epileptic seizures due to strong contrast changes and rapid cuts (SC 2.3.1 Three Flashes or Below Threshold).
Due to financial and organisational reasons, it is not yet possible to fully provide these alternatives, but we are working to provide them where feasible.
c. Third-party content not developed, funded, or controlled by us
Google Maps
Used in conjunction with the embedded B ooking.com widget, Google Maps has issues that make it difficult to use or unusable for people relying on assistive technologies.
The Austria Center Vienna has no control over the accessible output of this service. As an alternative, information about hotels in the area is available in an accessible format below the widget. A list of current accessibility limitations for Google Maps can be seen at https://issuetracker.google.com/hotlists/3783951.
We have no influence over the output of the widget in Google Maps.
Preparation of this accessibility statement
This statement was prepared on the basis of an evaluation of the www.acv.at website for accessibility compliance which was conducted by a third party on 24 June 2025.
The accessibility test/audit was based on the criteria of the EN 301 549 standard, aligned with WCAG 2.2 Level AA.
A predefined sample of different page templates and content types was reviewed.
This statement was last updated on 19 May 2026.
Feedback and contact details
If you encounter issues that hinder your use of our website – e.g. problems that are not described in this statement, or deficiencies regarding compliance with accessibility requirements – please let us know about them by email.

Enforcement procedure
If you do not receive a satisfactory response after contacting us as described above, you can make a complaint to the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG). You can submit your complaint to the FFG digital accessibility complaints office electronically using the Contact Form.
The FFG evaluates complaints to determine whether they relate to infringements of the Web Accessibility Act, in particular deficiencies in compliance with accessibility requirements, by the federal government or a federal government institution.
If the complaint is justified, the FFG must make recommendations to the federal government or the entity concerned and propose measures for rectifying the deficiencies.
