Austria Center Vienna unveils latest upgrades

Ongoing investment helps expand capacity while enhancing look and feel of the venue: Now with even more space, contemporary architecture, better acoustics and cutting-edge technology – Hall N on Level 1 has been completely transformed over the past few months. Ready in time for ECR 2017, the new space was put to use right away as a location for talks with up to 370 people.

600m² of additional exhibition space in the most attractive part of the Austria Center Vienna (08.11.2016)

Customers can now make the most of 600m² of additional networking and meeting space at Austria’s largest conference centre: Six flexible rooms covering around 600m² set in the most attractive part of the building, adjacent to the main entrance, are now available on Level 0 at the Austria Center Vienna. This appealing new space for meetings, talks and lectures for 70-140 people was completed in time for the autumn season just opposite the Business Lounge and Café MOTTO (both of which opened in 2015).

Perfect setting for Austria’s sporting elite

At Austria’s largest gala location skiers Marcel Hirscher and Eva-Maria Brem took the prizes for sportsman and sportswoman of the year, and sailing duo Thomas Zajac and Tanja Frank were announced as team of the year. The nation’s top sportsmen and women were greeted with storms of applause from 1,400 high-profile sports, media and society figures at the LOTTERIEN-GALA Night of Sport.

Austria Center Vienna bathed in pink for World International Day of the Girl Child

 Austria’s largest conference centre is turning pink to make a statement about creating a violence-free environment for girls. From 11-12 October the facade of the Austria Center Vienna will be bathed in pink once again. For the second time in a row it will be marking the International Day of the Girl Child, which was introduced by the UN in 2011 to raise awareness of girls’ rights. Today’s girls are tomorrow’s scientists.

Fresh success for the Austria Center Vienna: two additional corporate meetings secured for 2016

The Austria Center Vienna has just landed a pair of new corporate events for 2016: this November will see the venue host the AMA Forum and the 2016 European SharePoint Conference for the first time. These acquisitions once again highlight the location’s attractiveness for get-togethers of this kind.

Climate award for Vienna International Centre – UN’s Vienna HQ designated climate neutral by Climate Secretariat

Tasked with maintaining the Vienna International Centre (VIC), the Austria Center Vienna has invested EUR 2.5m in new cooling systems over the past five years, helping to cut annual electricity costs for both parties by about EUR 200,000. Green electricity, district heating and on-site cooling help to deliver 56% reduction in CO2 emissions.

Austria Center Vienna brings 18 major customers to the Austrian capital in a joint marketing drive involving nine other top international conference centres

WLAN performance at the Austria Center Vienna unmatched anywhere in the world, earns venue 2016 Digital Infrastructure Award

Singapore, Perth, Dublin: competition for the INCON Global Digital Awards – presented by an international jury of experts in recognition of leading innovative digital infrastructure at congress centres and congress hotels – was very strong this year. In spite of this, the Austria Center Vienna and its highly-available WLAN for 20,000 users ran away with the 2016 title.

Austria Center Vienna set to welcome an additional 9,000 participants in 2017 – venue lands two medical conferences and a US corporate congress 

Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s, and gynaecological oncology: the Austria Center Vienna team has convinced a pair of large-scale conferences to host their events at the nation’s largest congress centre in 2017. With the support of the Vienna Convention Bureau (VCB), the venue also secured a booking for July 2017 from the World Credit Union Conference, which will bring a further 1,800 participants to the city from around the world.

520m2 of additional meeting space in the Austria Center Vienna lobby

From autumn 2016 the Austria Center Vienna will be adding five new meeting rooms on the same level as the main entrance. This represents the latest step in the strategy of adding even more networking and meeting spaces at the nation’s largest conference centre. The new spaces join the Business Lounge and neighbouring Café MOTTO which opened on the other side of the entrance area last year.

Austria Center Vienna extends medical focus

The nation’s largest conference centre extends its medical focus: in 2016 the dermatologists (European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology - EADV), in 2017 and 2020 the nuclear medicine specialists (European Association of Nuclear Medicine - EANM) meet at the Austria Center Vienna. These three additional conferences attract a total of 21,000 delegates.

A gala night to remember at the Austria Center Vienna 

Taking place at the Austria Center Vienna for the third time this year, the award ceremony honouring the achievements of the nation’s top sportsmen and sportswomen generated plenty of interest in Austria and abroad: around 1,600 guests packed the hall and a further 400,000 followed proceedings live on ORF 1.

New furniture at the Austria Center Vienna, 7,600 chairs donated to Austrian NPOs

When it came to drawing up specifications for the chairs and procuring them, the Austria Center Vienna team focused on multifunctionality and the use of high-quality, sustainable materials. The final order was for a total of 12,800 chairs with and without armrests. 

The Austria Center Vienna took the decision to donate old chairs that were still in good condition to non-profit organisations (NPOs) throughout the country. In total over 7,600 chairs in a range of colours were passed on to more than 40 national NPOs

The feelgood factor – business lounge and Café Motto

Arrive, relax and network – the new contemporary business lounge and adjacent Café Motto in the main entrance to the Austria Center Vienna has turned this vision into a reality. Presenting the Austria Center Vienna’s biggest hall in a whole new light

(December 2014) Managing Director Susanne Baumann-Söllner has introduced an innovative, four-level lighting concept in the Austria Center Vienna’s biggest hall that can be individually adjusted to suit the atmosphere of each event. From mood lighting for gala evenings with 2,300 guests, to lighting for up to 4,300 conference participants to work by – the customer is in complete control thanks to an iPad app.
