    In 2017, Austria’s largest congress centre brought more than 100,000 international participants to Vienna for the first time. The venue also once again exceeded the record revenue figure from the previous year. With a total of 18 congresses and Austria’s rotating presidency of the EU Council as well as the danubeSAIL modernisation project waiting in the wings for 2019, there are already further major projects on the horizon.  read more

    The Austria Center Vienna recently unveiled the largest construction project at the venue since its opening around 30 years ago. A new access building with skywalk and three additional entrances will make it more convenient to use the different levels for separate events held in parallel. An attractive canopy – the danubeSAIL – will also be added to the square outside the building. By the time work is completed in 2022, this area will be transformed into a public space that brings people together, and adds a further 4,200m² for events in either closed or open formats. read more

  • Austria Center Vienna renovates top floor

    Networking opportunities are playing an increasingly important role at congresses and other large-scale events. In response, the Austria Center Vienna is refurbishing the third floor of the main building, making it one of the first congress centres in Europe to create an exclusive networking area for face-to-face meetings away from the hustle and bustle of the main event. The project is scheduled for completion in February 2018. read more

  • Austria Center Vienna set to welcome an additional 9,000 participants in 2017 – venue lands two medical conferences and a US corporate congress

    Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s, and gynaecological oncology: the Austria Center Vienna team has convinced a pair of large-scale conferences to host their events at the nation’s largest congress centre in 2017. With the support of the Vienna Convention Bureau (VCB), the venue also secured a booking for July 2017 from the World Credit Union Conference, which will bring a further 1,800 participants to the city from around the world. read more

  • Radiology congress commits to Vienna for another five years

    Attracting more than 20,000 international participants each March, the annual ECR is one of the largest medical conferences on the planet. The Austria Center Vienna will continue to host the ECR despite growing international competition, having just extended the contract for a further five years to 2025. According to the latest IHS study, this extension will contribute more than EUR 85 million to the Viennese economy.  read more

  • Climate award for Vienna International Centre – UN’s Vienna HQ designated climate neutral by Climate Secretariat

    Tasked with maintaining the Vienna International Centre (VIC), the Austria Center Vienna has invested EUR 2.5m in new cooling systems over the past five years, helping to cut annual electricity costs for both parties by about EUR 200,000. Green electricity, district heating and on-site cooling help to deliver 56% reduction in CO2 emissions. read more
