Record year in 2018 with 18 congress and Austria’s presidency of the European Council
“We will host 18 major international congresses in 2018 and the majority of the key events for the Republic of Austria during the nation’s Council Presidency. We expect this to deliver significant gains, both in terms of revenues and participant numbers. Strong demand confirms that we are heading in the right direction– one that will bring further improvements to customer service and additional modernisation work at the Austria Center Vienna, which is now 30 years old,” Baumann-Söllner commented.

New Managing Director with responsibility for technical services
The IAKW-AG management team is being extended to ensure that the operator is ideally placed to keep step with the challenges involved in modernising the venue: As Management Board spokesperson, Susanne Baumann-Söllner will retain responsibility for Congress Management, an area that extends to marketing, sales, event management, finance and accounting, human resources, IT and security. From now on, new Managing Director Michael Rotter will be responsible for various technical areas including Construction Services, Property and Project Management. As a representative of the Republic of Austria in the Major Repairs and Replacements Fund, maintaining and managing the Vienna International Centre also falls under his remit. Increasing the venue’s attractiveness
“Over the past few years, the Austria Center Vienna has put all the necessary elements in place for a successful future. A number of construction projects are scheduled for the next few years to help improve the attractiveness of the venue as a destination for international congresses, and to open up new public spaces for the local population to use. I am delighted to have this opportunity to use my technical experience to ensure that structural upgrades and improvements to existing infrastructure can progress without disrupting the conference centre’s day-to-day operations,” Rotter explained.
