Safety and security at the Austria Center Vienna

Sicherheitspersonal im Austria Center Vienna Working in close cooperation with security partner G4S, the Austria Center Vienna ensures the highest safety and security standards at its events.

Vienna is one of the safest cities in the world. Alongside cultural attractions and a central location, this is one of the decisive criteria for prospective event organisers. Safety and security is paramount at the Austria Center Vienna: this applies to the visitors, their data and the site itself. To ensure optimal guest safety, we have highly professional internal systems in place which can be extended as needed to incorporate modular and custom external security concepts offered by external specialists. The topic of safety and security covers all areas including:

  • Fire safety measures including an automated fire protection system, an in-house fire service and extensive structural features and firefighting equipment
  • Fully optimised escape route planning based on computer simulations
  • Security and surveillance services offered by external partners
  • State-of-the-art anti-burglary protection and alarm systems
  • Emergency medical provision
  • Data security e.g. For connections to the venue’s 20,000-user WiFi network
  • Crisis management for a range of scenarios
  • Standardised SOS processes developed in collaboration with customers
  • An in-house security control room to coordinate responses centrally
  • Back up electricity generators, central electricity distribution distributor and comprehensive supply rings

The Austria Center Vienna has a proven track record of hosting high-security events:

  • The 2015 Iran Talks (E3/EU+3)  were held in the neighbouring UN building – the Austria Center Vienna was used as a media centre from which developments were reported to the public in a high-security environment
  • From June to December 2018 the majority of the meetings and conferences held during the nation’s rotating presidency of the Council of the European Union will take place at the Austria Center Vienna – including a number of political events at the very highest level

The exceptionally stringent security measures put in place at the centre as a result will benefit all subsequent customers and participants. Close cooperation with national security agencies and support from external security partners will make a significant contribution to their successful implementation.

As the nation’s largest conference centre we firmly believe that hosting seamless events and the highest security standards are not mutually exclusive – in fact, the two go hand in hand!
